Plan the Perfect 30 Minute Treadmill Workout
You
need to stick to a 30 minute
treadmill workout when you exercise on a treadmill since 30 minutes is the
recommended time allotment for daily exercise. Sticking to a daily
treadmill walking routine is a really good idea for several reasons, but the
most important one is that you don’t get bored walking in the same space for a
30 minute period.
Variation Keeps Boredom at Bay
If you walk outdoors, you get to see different sights, and 30 minutes don’t seem
that long. When you’re working out on a treadmill in the privacy of your home,
things can get boring and you find yourself constantly checking the time. Of
course, if you are watching TV or listening to music, this helps the time to go
faster, but you do need to have variation in your workout. You can choose from a
variety treadmill exercises,
programs and levels of intensity to help you target different muscle groups
during your routine.
Increase the Intensity of Your
Workouts During the First 15 Minutes
Every workout should start with a 5 minute warm up. This is an essential part of
the routine in order to warm up your muscles before you start intense walking on
the treadmill. Then you should increase the incline of the treadmill every 2
minutes to a slightly higher level so that you gradually increase the intensity
of your walking during the routine. Continue with this until you are half way
through your 30 minute workout. Using the display on the treadmill, you can see
the perceived rate of exertion that you are expending.
Allow Your Muscles to Recuperate
Along with the purchase of the treadmill, you should receive a training video or
book explaining how to have a good treadmill workout. An interval workout means that you
should gradually increase the incline every two minutes, but you should also
decrease after several increases to allow your muscles to recuperate from the
extra effort. Increasing and decreasing the incline is a standard part of a
walking routine and helps to keep you busy and not thinking about how much of
the 30 minutes you have left.
Decrease the Incline During the
Second Half of Your Workout
As you increase the incline, up to 15 minutes of the 30 minute time period of
your workout, you then start to decrease for the remaining half of your routine.
When you first start working out on a treadmill, you will find that you are
walking slowly. However, after you get into a routine, you will find it much
easier to keep up with the speed and you may even start running. At the end of
your routine, you must remember to have a cool down period of at least 5 minutes
to let your muscles gradually relax.
